    MCP Server Templates

    4 min read

    Introduction #

Within your Cyclr Console, you can create “MCP Server Templates” as a way to build common groups of actions that you can quickly install into your Cyclr Accounts.

Having created an MCP Server Template, it can then be installed through Cyclr’s interface – or through Cyclr’s Marketplaces feature – into your Accounts.

When installed, a copy of the Template is created as a separate MCP Server in that Account.

ℹ️ As well as creating MCP Server Templates and installing them into Accounts, you can choose to create one-off MCP Servers directly in your Accounts.

If the MCP Servers feature is enabled on your Console, you’ll see the “MCP Servers” option under Templates where you can manage your MCP Server Templates:

Creating an MCP Server Template #

    1. In your Cyclr Console, go to Templates > MCP Servers.
    2. Select the + Add MCP Server button to create a new MCP Server Template.
    3. Specify the following:
      • Name
        • A name for this MCP Server Template to distinguish it from others.
      • Description
        • An additional description to help explain its purpose and use.
    4. Select the Create button.

A new MCP Server Template will be created and its unique URL displayed. That URL is a reference to that particular MCP Server, which could be installed within an external LLM to test and try out its Tools before you go on to install it into your Accounts.

Displayed below the MCP Server’s “Details” is an area showing the selected “Tools”. This is initially empty as no Connector Methods have yet been selected.

Editing an MCP Server’s Tools #

    1. Select the + Add Account Connector Tools button to change the Tools available on an MCP Server.
    2. Select from the available Connectors using the dropdown.

ℹ️ Which Connectors are available for use in your MCP Servers is set by Cyclr as part of enabling the MCP Servers feature on your Console.

    1. Having selected a Connector, its Methods are displayed.
Use the checkboxes to choose which Methods will be available as Tools through the MCP Server:
    1. Once done, select the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to update the MCP Server.
You can return to this page to make changes whenever needed.

ℹ️ Changes you make to an MCP Server Template will not be replicated to existing installed MCP Servers in your Cyclr Accounts.

    Viewing an MCP Server #

You can see the Connectors and selected Methods set on an MCP Server by selecting its Edit button from the list of MCP Server Templates:

From this page, you’re able to change the Methods by selecting the Edit button next to a Connector.

You can also choose to remove a Connector and its Methods entirely by selecting its Delete button.

    MCP Server Template Settings #

Your Console’s Templates > MCP Servers list page displays all of your MCP Server Templates:

The page also provides the following options for each MCP Server Template:

    “Require Authentication” toggle #

Whether an MCP Server and its Tools are secured using Cyclr’s OAuth Client Credentials authentication, or if any system with its unique URL can use it.

    • On: secured.
    • Off: publicly accessible.

When “On”, Access Tokens obtained from any set of “MCP” OAuth Client Credentials in the same Account as the installed MCP Server will be accepted.

    “Enabled” toggle #

Whether the MCP Server Template is available to be installed into Accounts.

    • On: an MCP Server Template can be installed and will be shown when clicking the “Templates” button from the MCP Server’s page within your Accounts, as well as be available within Marketplaces.
    • Off: an MCP Server Template cannot be installed.

    “Edit” button #

Allows you to make changes to the selected Connectors and Methods currently set in the MCP Server Template, as well as to its Name and Description.

    “View Transactions” button #

Each time a call to one of an MCP Server’s Tools is made, a short “Transaction” item is recorded. That allows you to see a log of when Tools were called and what parameters were passed to them.

You’re able to filter these Transactions using a text search as well as From and To date fields.

    “Copy” button #

Creates a new MCP Server Template that’s a complete copy of the original.

The new MCP Server Template will have “Copy of” appended to its Name, not be Enabled, and have its own unique URL.

    “Delete” button #

Removes the MCP Server Template from the Console.
