There’s a few things that we can do to this cycle to make it better.
The first thing that I’m going to do is add a decision step. Now, I can use a decision step as a sort of filter. If an API doesn’t necessarily have filters available to it, I can add a decision step and have a certain condition needs to be met for the information to go into the Google Sheet spreadsheet.
So let’s look and get a sample of the users that we have available to us. So then this I have seven, automated process being one of them. So let me copy this from the first name.
In the decision step, I’m going to choose sources List Users going to choose field as first name. And I’m going to make sure that it equals “automated”. So I feel that this off, if I look at some of the other examples of names within this, I think what we’ll find is, there’s no first name or last name, well, there’s no first name here, there’s my name, but the only user that has automated is our first user. So if I run this cycle ran once similar to what I’ve done before.
What you’ll now see is that only a single user is pushed through the cycle, push it into my Google Sheets spreadsheet, there’s only one user that matches the decision step condition.
If I can look at the decision of step step data, we’ll see that have one true Source item. And Six false source items, which leaves me with one tree compare with items, which means this comparison has successfully worked. And if I look at the step data, the only person that’s gone through to my Google Sheet spreadsheet is “automated process”.
Now, if I want someone to have to create the decision step to see what’s going on, I could add a quick little annotation.
So with this annotation, anyone that comes to this cycle can now see what they need to do or what is expected of the specific step or the cycle generally, you can place these anywhere within your cycle a template.
So that covers of the tools decisions step is the most commonly used tool and annotations are a good way to extend or explain functionality that is expected within the cycle.
